One more day for iPod contest entries!

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Yup – your chance to win an iPod touch ends at midnight tomorrow, so if you’ve been procrastinating on submitting an entry, get to it now!  We’ve had hundreds of folks submit ideas – some really great ones and a few really off the wall ones – though they’re all generating even more ideas here, so keep ’em coming 🙂

It’s going to be hard to decide on a winner, but I’ll post an announcement here as soon as the choice is made. Be creative!

Default Folder X 4.0.3 Released

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Default Folder X 4.0.3 is now available in English, Japanese, German, French, and Danish. Despite the minor change in the version number, this is a very important update that everyone should install. It fixes a couple of significant problems – the biggest one is a memory corruption bug that could cause crashes or odd behavior in Carbon applications.

Version 4.0.3 also gives you some nice new features. The one I like the most is the contextual menu that pops up when you control-click on an item in the list of files in Open or Save As dialogs. Now you can choose “Save As,” right click on the old version of a file and create a .zip file of it, then replace it with the new file. It’s a nice, simple way to create an archive of the old version so you can get it back if necessary.

Special thanks go to our localizers, who remain dedicated to making sure Default Folder X reaches the world in their native languages in a timely fashion. They are:

A huge thanks to them for their help, suggestions, and testing too! And thank you to all the folks who’ve reported bugs, made suggestions, and generally just had incredible enthusiasm for Default Folder X – you guys are what makes running an indie software company so great!

Win an iPod Touch!

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

So the iPhone SDK (or maybe the beta of the SDK) comes out today. We’re as excited as everyone else out there, and really want to get rolling. But not just with “solitaire for the iPhone,” so…

We’re having a contest! We’re giving away a 16 GB iPod Touch to whoever has the best application idea for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Got something you’ve been wishing for on your iPhone? Something that “just makes sense”? Or something that’s so outside the box that it just might be the next revolution? Let us know – if we think it’s great too, we’ll give you an iPod Touch!
